Most things in life are cyclical with periods of drought and profusion. That is the nature of the world… the yin and yang. Wells run dry and then fill again. Except a very few wells with a healthy stream underneath that can give quality water although sparingly others run dry until it rains. Until such time you can look at the well and attempt, but will only draw muck in desperation. No one will benefit from such exertion —–not the well nor the drawer nor others who had benefitted from it in the past.

You can dig the well deeper to find other possible streams but it might not be the best solution in the long run. Best decision is to wait till the prolific season is upon us again.

Thoughts too run dry every now and then, rather the capability to be creative with a thought and I am going through such a period. Unless I write of something deeply personal (which I’d rather not),everyday boring events or write rubbish (again, I’d rather not), I can’t conjure up thoughts to save my life at the moment.

It is the yin period and I shall quote the Chinese theory on that “wise people detect the forces and regulate their lives accordingly”. So I shall be wise and abstain from posting muck.

Just thought I’ll let you know in case anyone wonders why I am quiet, as I found out someone already is thinking I am slack

However, I am not sure if I am saying goodbye, now that I am so used to shouting about my children’s antics to the world. I might come again at a later date, if I have something juicy to relay. Then again I might not. I might crawl back to my shell.

Take care all, especially my virtual friend jester, his witty big bro, kind and compassionate LD, pissu- the one who calls me ma’am, the lost soul, who I hope will not be lost for long, beautiful mother Indyana, Dili, ever elusive Jack Point who nonetheless leave a permanent impression with his witty prose, the one and only Darwin and last but not least Nishadha the tech wizard who gave me whole lot of compliments and everyone else who enjoyed reading what I had to write.

I am feeling a bit emotional to my surprise.

See ya and take care everyone

———————————————————————————-

Alright folks, the top part was just philosophical writing, the truth lies below

When your blog posts were vastly about your life as a mother, of the jubilations and tribulations and then the children slowly grow up to be responsible adults learning the intricacies of acceptable behaviour, what happens to the blog?

In short no playing up, no writing material!

My daughter who solely provided writing material for my blog is now an almost there adult acting more responsible, capable of civil conversation etc

So what do I do now?

I think this time I have really come to my tether. I know there are some who enjoy reading what I write but that does not mean I should write rubbish just to be alive.

I was made aware, rather unceremoniously, of an unintentional tendency of mine to look straight through unappealing people as if they didn’t exist. My radar seems to miss such people when their presence does not excite me and sort of dissipate them from my vision.

I heard someone say “she doesn’t like me”. I looked at her with an expression of ‘who me?’ and looked straight at her as if for the first time and thought ‘who are you? Yes I’ve seen the silhouette but have never noticed you as a person’.

Since then I have made a conscious effort to overcome my failing by striking a conversation with them. However, I get utterly exhausted after such exertion. Brain races to find an excuse or hope for an interruption to escape the excruciating pain of pretending. If I can’t escape in a hurry, concentration takes a nosedive with glazed eyes and brain on hibernate mode. I do correct my zombie stance the minute I become aware, however that is one hell of a hard way to live.

Some people are down right bores. No kidding. And these people do not know the meaning of keeping it short and sweet when they talk. No, they have to relate every bump of their tedious story. Sometimes I look at them while they yak and think “take a breather would ya”

That was that, now veering slightly………We went to this place for the umpteenth time on daughter’s behalf and the daughter did the talking ……the saleswoman was wearing a strong perfume which immediately played on my sinuses giving me a runny nose followed by the slow decline of mental agility with the message ‘snooze’. At one time the saleswoman looked at me and asked “would you like a drink of water?”

Later in the car I mentioned to the darling daughter, the affect strong perfume had on my sinuses, and that I must have looked sick for the saleswoman to ask if I wanted a drink of water.

“No mum, her perfume had nothing to do with it. If it is not concerning you, not fully, even remotely, you look utterly bored”.

This is so unfair!

That sounded egocentric!

Had she said “if it doesn’t interest you” I could’ve lived with that. But she said ‘if it is not concerning you’.

Who is this person psychoanalysing me? Do I know her? Darling daughter didn’t stop there, went right ahead with more of the same but I was too stunned digesting my first psychoanalysis to remember the rest.

I know I have a bad habit, I accept that. However it was not the case this time. As I mentioned, we went to this place for the umpteenth time and the first time we visited I asked all the relevant Q especially relating to safety, not just at this place but from every salesperson in every darn place we visited and showed ample interest.

Mind you, we visited six places in total over the course of few weekends; double those visits for five places and more times for the place with the woman and her strong perfume. That is a grand total of 13 times (maybe 14) going in circles.

Anyone in my place would’ve looked bored, nay, pulled their hair in frustration, because ‘someone’ could not make up their mind.

I wish myself ‘well done’ for lasting 100 long posts. Yes, I have done 100 posts! If you knew me you’d be shocked too for lasting this long. Theoretically I may have passed the 100 mark a good while back had the deleted posts did not face that fate in a frenzy of “I am busted” mood

I am surprised at the run I had, being the lazy writer that I am. Also considering the fact I found many ways to avoid writing at school and post school. I am also amazed at the things I managed to come up with, in the form of posts … mostly courtesy of my children and their antics, my female child in particular.

I shall divulge a secret not even my mother knew at the time. I hardly wrote my own essays I got for homework because I had a wonderful helper in the form of a high school English teacher living right next door who was just happy to write them for me. I think her passion for words and language got the better of her upon sighting the topics and was unable to curb the temptation. The first time she wrote my essay I thought ‘er.. do I now just copy this in my handwriting and take it to school?’ I wasn’t really sure what I was supposed to do. But I learnt fast enough what was best for me : )

Either way, while I was the beneficiary I didn’t complain. My school teachers are the culpable ones – they never picked up the difference in my crappy writing at school and that of the magnificent homework I bring. Love you aunty S, for doing those, you needn’t worry, you didn’t permanently impair my ability to write. See, I can put two words together without murdering the Queen. I may inflict pain upon her from time to time but not kill her outright.

Thankyou everyone for reading the mind enhancing (read the hidden sarcasm there) reading material I provide here for your pleasure and taking the time to leave your kind comments. Thank you also for allowing me to read your insightful posts and get a glimpse into the daily life in SL a generation later…….and see how things have changed in many ways yet stagnant in many progressive ways.

Here’s to another 100

Cheers!

This question is mainly for the females as I believe winking is done mainly by men.

Also if a Lesbian wink at you how would you take it? It again could be a friendly wink but coming from a woman who is attracted to other women how do you interpret it?

Why do I ask this? I have a real problem with people I hardly know winking at me. I can take it from a friend as a friendly gesture or when among a group of people and with the familiarity between us, perhaps to indicate someone is annoying the hell out of us or saying utter bullocks.

Just wondering if I personally have issues with it or do other females take offence as well for a wink from a stranger?

Why do people you run into after yonks think after the initial Ooo laa la “I haven’t seen you in ages”, “What have you been up to?” “Still working at the same place?” “How are the kids?” “Oh I can’t believe they are that grown up?”…..think the polite thing to do next is ask for your phone number (again) email (again) mobile number (again)

What is with people that say the stupidest things ever? Times pass, kids grow and people age and move on. What is there to gush about?

I guess I can pardon this person I ran into the in this instance as all three details she requested from me have changed still she didn’t know that did she? And when one asks for mine, common decency dictates you to jot down theirs.

When I was naïve not necessarily young nevertheless naïve I used to make an effort to keep in touch while the gushing was still warm, I am just happy to utter empty words of ‘how long it had been’ and just move on without even asking for a phone number or even say we should catch up sometimes. I find it tedious to say things that I have no intention of following up with these ‘long lost pals, run into by chance.’

After all that, I am the one to always write first and sometimes I might get a mail back or none at all. But hey I was not the one hyperventilating for the numbers and parted with the must get together diarrhoea. I am always more than happy after chance meetings to move on with a “see you later”

This time, though I was given her contact details, I thought to myself, I didn’t ask, she did; let her make the first move.

So, now I am waiting!!!!

I cleaned the dreaded room. I’ve asked her to do it from times too far to stretch my memory. The doors of her built-in were bursting, waiting to fall down. I pulled out all the stuff that were sitting on the floor of the robe and asked, very politely mind you, if she would mind sorting through the mound and discard anything that she does not have any use for anymore. She said “ok”

Next, the whole pile was back inside the cupboard. That was one weekend not so long ago.

I thought enough was enough when a friend’s four year old daughter expressed shock at the state of the room. With the child’s expression came the reinforcing factor I needed to do something about the room but had gotten accustomed to. What the culprit had to say when told the reaction of a four year old, was “how dare that little brat come into my room”

Yesterday I thought ‘I’ve had it’. I pulled the whole pile out again and sorted through it myself and discarded all she has grown out of or the things I thought she will have no use for and neatly arranged the rest.

I thought it was worth the long face I’d have to deal with and the music I’d have to face when the time came and she descended home

And you might say “serves you right, it’s her room and it’s her right”

And I’ll say “tough” It should resemble human habitat not a pig sty.

But guess what? To my absolute amazement I didn’t hear a peep out of her last evening except to find her bedroom door closed when she left this morning. As that was unusual when she is not inside, I opened to investigate the mystery behind. There was a chair barricading the wardrobe doors with a whole pile of stuff on it.

Her silent and powerful message was like the clank of gates being locked. Though silent, it was loud and clear. I was waiting for the “how dare you go through my stuff?” “Where is the privacy in this house?” ladi ladi la, to clean the rest of her robe next free time I had.

Now in all honesty I can’t even fathom opening the doors to tidy except to put her clean clothes in.

I am still reeling from the impact of her tacit message.

I think my daughter is smarter and mature than I give her credit for!

Meeting of two souls with reciprocal feelings of love for one another is a beautiful thing. There are no explanations for how or why we feel this way about certain people but when that happens, the rest of the world is at a standstill. We will exist, live and breathe, sunrise to sunset, day in and day out for one another. They will dominate our consciousness and consume our thoughts leaving a warm, beautiful feeling.

Though beautiful and happy, love can also be painful. Your love for someone makes you vulnerable leaving you susceptible to be deeply hurt by them. But does that mean we avoid love, no we don’t. Does that mean if someone has hurt us in the past we shun all other suitors? No! Should we wallow in our pain for evermore? No! We get over our hurt with the resilient nature us human have been bestowed upon and move on. We might carry a residual pain for years perhaps but move on we must.

If we so choose, we can wallow in pain and drown ourselves in misery and make life inconceivably sad not just for us but to others around us as well or we can make a conscious choice to gear our life to fulfilment.

From where I stand, and that is with some experience mind you, while I accept love that was not allowed to run its course will pain for a long time, your heart will heal one day. By that I mean one partner moving on while the other is still in love or the smitten pair fallen apart for other reasons whilst still in love. Unlike love that has just fizzled out for both, love that was not allowed to run its course and close its feelings, leave you heartbroken. And that is an unbearable feeling.

Still, I sincerely don’t believe that there is only one special someone for us all. There are quite a few we’ll bump into during the course of our journey through life. We don’t realise that while living in the moment and enjoying the present special someone with all his/her foibles and unaware of the future or after a breakup and wallowing in sadness for the lost love. But there are others waiting in the wings to cross our paths as this universe will allow and that is what keeps us kicking and reliving………..

There are many types of relationships….Some we connect on certain levels, some we connect on just one level (mostly physical) and some it is a meeting of the souls connecting on many levels bringing out the best in each other. These relationships are rare and if you are one of the lucky ones to enjoy such a union, latch onto your partner like a leech. Hang on a minute, no, not like a blood sucking leech, which will drive your partner away. Just hang onto them with love, respect, understanding and appreciation of what you have. These are the relationships we just feel comfortable being with even without uttering a word. Unfortunately not many of us meet this special someone in this lifetime.

If you have loved and lost, as painful as it may be, say a prayer of thanks for experiencing love at all. Some people live and die without ever experiencing what it is to be totally in love with another or be loved and to have experienced the beauty and magic of it all.

So if you cry for your lost love, wipe away the tears and look out the window, somewhere out in the horizon there is someone special waiting for you. All you have to do is walk with your eyes open and a heart waiting to receive and you will love again.

Love is wonderful, it makes the world go around but to think love is eternal is a misnomer. Like many things in this world, love too dies to be reborn again more beautiful and fuller with another. So enjoy everything life throws at you.

This post is for any lost souls out there who are hurting after a breakup and might feel there is no tomorrow. But there is always a tomorrow if only you allow your mind to perceive through your eyes, the beautiful rising sun and not just the beautiful sunset.

Wish you well and have trust in that you will love again!

Hope this helped in some small way for you to grow in strength and have a positive outlook.

Conforming to social norms is what we do in this life isn’t it? We live for others and/or live thinking what will they think if we do this or that. When are we ever going to be who we are and be damned with the rest? I mean in a socially acceptable way, as in do no harm to others, speak no evil, see no evil and hear no evil sort of way. Respect, help each other and all other integral humane qualities inherent, yet just live the life we want to live and not worry about what the neighbours or others might say.

If you are someone living and doing exactly what you want and not fussed about the opinion of others in your life, be it family, friends, colleagues or whoever then count yourself extremely lucky. And keep on living your life the way you want to and don’t let even age mellow you to give in to what is expected and not necessarily what is essentially you.

We buy a house or a car and try to outshine the people we know in life to look better than them in their acquisitions rather than take pride in ours and take care of it and be happy about what we got.

After all these pleasing of others, ultimately we all die and the ones who can honestly say “woohoo what a ride that was?” are the lucky ones.

Just a thought that came to mind after my last couple of posts. People create an image in their minds which could be one facet of multifaceted personalities we all have.

If we believe people to be the facet we see them in, then this world will be one hell of a dull place full of boring people.
